I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Speeding, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Speed Enforcement Activity on Morton Terrace, Gainsborough
On 28 August 2026, PCSO Felstead-Solley, PCSO Patchett and PC Toyn conducted proactive speed enforcement checks on Morton Terrace, Gainsborough, in response to ongoing concerns regarding excessive vehicle speeds in the area.
During the operation, a number of vehicles were stopped. As a result, two traffic offence reports were issued, and one vehicle was seized due to the driver having no valid insurance.
One driver was recorded travelling at 57mph in a 30mph speed limit and was issued with a traffic offence report for speeding.
A second driver was recorded travelling at 46mph in a 30mph speed limit and was also issued with a traffic offence report for speeding. Subsequent checks revealed that the vehicle was being driven without valid insurance. The driver was therefore reported for both offences, and the vehicle was seized under police powers.
The vehicle shown in the accompanying photograph is the vehicle that was seized during the operation.
Excessive speed remains one of the leading factors in serious road traffic collisions. In residential areas, particularly where children and families are present, speeding significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death. Speed limits are in place to protect all road users, and compliance with them is essential in keeping our communities safe.
Lincolnshire Police will continue to take robust action against those who choose to speed or drive without valid insurance. We operate a zero-tolerance approach towards behaviour that places other road users and members of the public at unnecessary risk.
